Stained Glass Beginners

The Art of Stained Glass (Intermediate / Advance)

This Ancient Glass Art Form will equip the students with the fundamental skills and techniques in Stained Glass creation.

In the workshop, there will be an emphasis on glass cutting & grinding techniques.  Students will be taught with all the processes, and relevant techniques like cutting glass, grinding, foiling, soldering and stained glass fabrication.  Workshop will consist of mainly hands-on, practical application of all technique taught.

Students may provide their own design or select one of the many design we have available in the workshop.  By the end of this workshop, students would have learnt how to create their own Stained Glass workpiece.  They will gain an appreciation of this unique art form.

Stained Glass Art – Mosaic

This workshop is to provide students with an appreciation of the art & craftsmanship of Glass Mosaic. It is organized around a Performance Task spanning the entire duration of the workshop. This task will require students to gather key facts about Mosaic Art and complete their Glass Mosaic Projects using the techniques taught, to assess the quality of their finished work.

Stained Glass Art – Mosaic (Express)

This workshop aims to introduce students to the new Glass Art Form – Glass Mosaic.  This Express Workshop aim to make Glass Mosaic more assessable to all by reducing some of the tedious elements, we have managed to compress the Glass Mosaic Workshops (while maintain the Craft element), making it Fun, Easy, Less-time consuming, yet Highly Rewarding.

Students will be taught to use Mosaic Molds and the reverse setting process. 

Stained Glass Art – Hot Glass – Fusing & Slumping

This workshop will introduce to students the Art of Molten Glass through Glass Fusing and Slumping.  Glass Fusing involves the creative combination of Colours, Textures & Forms with skillful manipulation of Glass in Molten form to create Artistic, wondrous Fused Glass Pieces.  Fused Glass will be slump to take the form of Plates, Trays, Bowls, Platters, Jewellery, limited only by the Artist’s imagination.  Fusing & Slumping generally requires 2 or more separate firings, one to fuse the glass and a second slump it to shape.  The Beauty of Fused Glass lies in its uniqueness --- No Two Pieces are alike --- a direct result of hand-work and kiln-firing.

Students will be taught the Fusing Process, Fusible glass properties & Firing Charts, leading formulation of a Firing Schedule.

Stained Glass Art – Hot Glass – Fritography

Fritography, the painterly use of crushed glass frits and powders, has opened up a whole new world of artistic imagery. Anything is possible when working with small particles of glass from a tight, photo‐realism to loose impressionism.

Students will learn how to control color density, shading, soft and hard edge lines and some unique specialty looks. We’ll focus on creating unusual shapes, surface treatments, firing schedules and mural making techniques.

Stained Glass Art – Hot Glass – Fused Jewellery

This workshop will introduce to students the Art of Molten Glass through Glass Fusing and Slumping.  Glass Fusing involves the creative combination of Colours, Textures & Forms with skillful manipulation of Glass in Molten form to create Artistic, wondrous Fused Glass Pieces.  Fused Glass will be slump to take the form of Plates, Trays, Bowls, Platters, Jewellery, limited only by the Artist’s imagination.  Students will work to create their own fused glass cabochons, which can be purposed to various jewellery forms through the application of the appropriate findings.

Students will be taught the Fusing Process, Fusible glass properties & Firing Charts, leading formulation of a Firing Schedule.

Glass Art Painting

In this workshop, students will be introduce to the simple and interesting Glass painting designs and play with different colours like stained glass with light pass through that will bring out the vibrant of the colours and design.  Glass painting is relatively similar to decorative painting techniques except for the paints and medium require.  It can be done also on reverse painting with the correct design.

With the solvent based Glass paints & Squirrel Hair Brushes, students get to express their creativity directly on glass.

This workshop is suitable for all age groups and skill levels and this workshop serves as a first step into appreciation of Glass Art.
